Held on the last Wednesday of September, Women’s National Fitness Day, is the largest annual health promotion in the United States—and it’s coming to a wellness center near you, in the form of walking, cycling or other non-competitive sports to get your heart pumping!
Created by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), this fitness awareness holiday is designed to encourage women to take control of their health; for example, making smarter eating choices and setting aside the time for regular physical activity. More than 1,000 groups across the country will host women’s health and fitness events at senior centers, hospitals, health clubs, park and recreation districts and more.
This national event puts anyone who wishes to promote “the importance of regular physical activity” in the spotlight. On the heels of this Fitness Day, comes “Family Health and Fitness Day”, on September 28th. To read about other healthy awareness programs, click the Fitness Day link, and be sure to visit like-minded sites like Healthy Careers & Lifestyles for Healthcare Professionals; here you’ll find fitness tips, recipes and related news for traveling R.N.s and therapists. Staying healthy and active is the best way to enjoy life and be the best you can be in your career. Happy National Women’s Fitness Day, everyone!
